FAQ
Cordyceps Tincture (Cordyceps spp.) is a natural food supplement made from organically grown cordyceps fruiting bodies and mycelium, prepared using a carefully developed dual extraction process with alcohol and water. Both extraction stages are supported by ultrasound-assisted technology, which helps release naturally occurring compounds from the fungal material.
For the alcohol extraction, we use organic Slovenian fruit brandy containing 55% alcohol by volume. Separately, we prepare a water extract by gently simmering the cordyceps for approximately one hour, followed by additional ultrasound-assisted extraction. This combination allows us to obtain different groups of naturally occurring compounds, as some are more readily extracted in water, while others are more soluble in alcohol.
The alcohol and cooled water extracts are then combined, left to macerate further and carefully filtered. This process allows us to obtain a broad spectrum of naturally occurring fungal compounds, including water-soluble polysaccharides and other characteristic constituents of cordyceps. Ultrasound supports both extraction stages, combining traditional extraction methods with modern technology and careful attention to quality.
The cordyceps used for our tincture is organically grown in Slovenia under controlled conditions, ensuring quality and traceability. Great care is taken throughout the entire process – from the selection of the fungal material to the separate alcohol and water extractions, ultrasound-assisted processing and final combination of both extracts.

How to take:
- add the tincture to a glass of water or take it from a spoon followed by some water
- preferably take on an empty stomach (before a meal or at least 1 hour after eating), as this allows for better absorption; after taking the tincture, a light meal is recommended, as the mushroom may be more difficult to digest for those with a sensitive stomach

Cordyceps (Cordyceps spp.)
Cordyceps is a distinctive fungus with a very long tradition of use and has long been associated with vitality, endurance and a sense of inner strength. Both in appearance and in its story, it differs from most herbs, as it is not a plant but a fungus belonging to the ascomycetes. Today, modern preparations most commonly use cultivated forms of different species from the genus Cordyceps, particularly Cordyceps militaris, as cultivation allows for better traceability, purity and more sustainable production.
Cordyceps belongs to the family Cordycipitaceae. This group of fungi is botanically and ecologically fascinating, and the genus Cordyceps is known for its diversity and long history of research. This is why products are sometimes labelled more broadly as Cordyceps spp., referring to the genus or several related species rather than to a single species.
Cordyceps preparations commonly use the fruiting body, the mycelium or a combination of both. This is relevant because different parts of the fungus contain somewhat different proportions of naturally occurring polysaccharides, nucleosides and other compounds. Carefully designed extraction methods are therefore often used in high-quality preparations to capture a broad and balanced profile of the fungus.
Cordyceps is also fascinating because of its unusual story. In Asian traditions, it became an almost legendary fungus associated with endurance, vitality and the ability to adapt to physical demands. Some species were extremely rare in the wild and therefore highly valued. Today, cultivated forms are increasingly used as a more sustainable alternative that helps reduce pressure on wild populations. This transition from a rare mountain fungus to a carefully cultivated crop beautifully illustrates how tradition and modern responsibility can meet along the same path.
Traditionally, cordyceps is associated with periods when people are looking for greater vitality, endurance, resilience during demanding times and a feeling of steady energy. It is often included in daily routines during periods of increased physical or mental demands, when people wish to maintain a sense of inner focus and everyday strength. Its character is not usually described as sharp or rapidly stimulating, but rather as deep, tonifying and steady – like a fungus associated with lasting endurance. This description reflects traditional use and modern interest in fungi of the genus Cordyceps.
One of the most fascinating stories connected with cordyceps comes from the traditional use of these fungi in Tibet and the wider Asian cultural heritage, where they were highly valued by people living in demanding environments, high in the mountains and close to the forces of nature. Perhaps this is part of what makes cordyceps so intriguing – it carries a story of perseverance. Rather than something lush and gentle, it can be seen as a quiet reminder that true strength is often built slowly, through consistency, patience and a good connection with ourselves.

Can I take several different medicinal mushrooms at the same time?
Yes, in practice different medicinal mushrooms are often used in combination. Each has its own character – some are traditionally associated more with vitality, others with calm or overall balance – so they can complement one another well.
It is sensible to keep the overall amount moderate. Rather than taking a large amount of a single mushroom, moderate amounts of several different mushrooms are often combined to create a more balanced approach. It is also a good idea to introduce combinations gradually and observe how your body responds.
Can Cordyceps interact with medication?
Cordyceps (Cordyceps spp.) is generally considered well tolerated, but caution is advisable when it is taken alongside certain medications. As it contains a variety of naturally occurring bioactive compounds, it may influence some processes in the body, so it is important to use it thoughtfully and pay attention to your individual response.
Particular caution is advisable with blood-thinning medication, including anticoagulants and antiplatelet medicines, due to the possibility of effects on blood clotting. The same applies to medication used to regulate blood sugar, where effects may potentially be additive and closer monitoring may be appropriate.
Caution is also recommended with medicines that affect the immune system, for example following organ transplantation or in certain conditions where immune activity needs to be carefully controlled. It is also sensible to be cautious when taking blood pressure medication.
If you take medication or have a chronic health condition, consult your doctor or another appropriately qualified healthcare professional before using Cordyceps. As with herbal and mushroom preparations in general, it is sensible to start with a smaller amount, observe how your body responds and adjust gradually.
What about long-term use of Cordyceps?
Cordyceps (Cordyceps spp.) has traditionally been associated with longer-term, steady use rather than a rapid or strongly stimulating effect. For this reason, many people include it in routines lasting several weeks or months, particularly during more demanding periods.
Even so, we recommend using Cordyceps in cycles. A common approach is to take it for several weeks, for example 3–4 weeks, followed by a short break. This creates a balanced rhythm of use and provides regular p
