FAQ

Pine Cone Tincture is a natural food supplement made from young pine cones (strobilus), harvested at an early stage of growth. It is prepared using the traditional cold maceration method, which allows for the gradual extraction of plant compounds while preserving a broad spectrum of naturally occurring constituents.

We use 50% alcohol to ensure balanced extraction of different groups of compounds. This alcohol concentration helps extract both water-soluble and alcohol-soluble constituents, including the resinous substances and aromatic compounds characteristic of pine.

Our pine cones are harvested on our organic herbal farm in Slovenia. Each cone is hand-picked while still soft and rich in natural resins.

Scots Pine (Pinus sylvestris)

Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris) is an evergreen conifer found along sunny woodland edges, on dry soils and in open landscapes. It is easily recognised by its long needles growing in pairs, distinctive bark and young green cones, which carry the fresh, resinous aroma of the forest.

It belongs to the pine family (Pinaceae). For our tincture, we use young pine cones (strobilus), harvested at an early stage of growth when they are still soft, full of sap and rich in natural resins.

Pine has a long history in traditional herbalism. It is associated with freshness, purity and a sense of breathing freely. It is often incorporated into everyday routines during periods when we seek greater ease, a feeling of openness and a closer connection with nature.

One of the fascinating characteristics of pine is its abundance of resinous and aromatic compounds. These give the tree its distinctive scent, reminiscent of forests, resin and fresh air. This unmistakable character is one of the reasons why pine has accompanied people for centuries, both in herbal preparations and in everyday surroundings.

In traditional herbal practice, pine is used in preparations associated with a sense of openness and freshness, particularly during the colder months or seasonal transitions. Its presence reminds us of resilience, stability and the quiet strength of nature.

Why Is Pine Often Associated with a Sense of Inner Strength?

Pine grows tall and upright, even in challenging conditions. Its presence often evokes a sense of stability, stillness and focus – qualities that we may also associate with its traditional use.

Why Do We Use Young, Green Pine Cones?

Young pine cones contain natural resins and aromatic compounds characteristic of pine. We harvest them while they are still soft and rich in these naturally occurring substances.
