FAQ
Common Mallow Tincture (Malva sylvestris) is a natural food supplement made from the flowers, leaves and roots of the plant, prepared using the traditional cold maceration method. This method helps preserve a broad spectrum of naturally occurring plant compounds found throughout the whole plant.
The alcohol concentration is carefully adapted to the characteristics of common mallow, as the plant contains a high amount of mucilage, which is extracted most effectively in the water-based part of the preparation. By using a moderate alcohol concentration of 30%, we maintain a balance between the water and alcohol components, allowing not only mucilage but also other naturally occurring plant compounds to be extracted. The result is a well-rounded extract that preserves the gentle character of the plant while ensuring good stability of the tincture.
The herbs used for our tincture are grown on our own farm. Each part of the plant is harvested by hand, with careful attention to the right time and with respect for both the plant and the place where it grows.

Mallow (Malva sylvestris)
Mallow is a gentle yet remarkably resilient plant, often decorating roadsides, gardens and sunny meadows with its pinkish-purple flowers. Its softness is reflected not only in its appearance but also in the character of the plant itself. In herbal tradition, it has long been associated with soothing, moistening qualities and gentle support during periods when the body needs a little more softness.
It belongs to the mallow family (Malvaceae).
In herbalism, we mainly use the flowers, leaves and root – flos, folium et radix. Each part of the plant has a slightly different character, while together they form a harmonious whole that has made mallow a valued ingredient in many traditional herbal preparations.
Mallow has long been a familiar companion in cottage gardens and along country paths. In the past, it was almost taken for granted as a plant growing close to the home – valued not only for its beauty but also for its usefulness. Its flowers are delicate, almost silky, and when soaked in water they release a gentle colour that can be surprisingly beautiful. In folk tradition, mallow was often regarded as a herb of gentleness – something that does not act harshly, but quietly and almost unnoticed.
Traditionally, mallow is used during periods when we wish to offer gentle support to the throat, pharynx and vocal cords, particularly when experiencing dryness or increased strain on the voice. It is also valued when we wish to bring more softness to the digestive system and support a sense of inner balance. Its mild and gentle nature gives it a special place among herbs traditionally associated with comfort and gentle support for the mucous membranes.
Mallow also has a tradition of use for maintaining digestive well-being, supporting the intestines and providing a soothing effect on the throat, pharynx and vocal cords. It is often mentioned in connection with periods of temporary hoarseness or a dry throat, and whenever we wish to maintain a comfortable feeling while breathing and speaking.
Mallow tincture + Respiratory Ointment
- tincture taken internally, ointment applied externally
- traditionally, mallow and Respiratory Ointment complement each other as internal and external support during periods when the respiratory system feels more sensitive; mallow, with its gentle, mucilage-rich nature, brings a soothing and moistening sensation from within, while the ointment, gently applied to the chest, adds a comforting sense of warmth and support
Mallow tincture + Echinacea tincture
- both tinctures taken internally
- traditionally, mallow and echinacea complement each other during periods of greater seasonal challenges; mallow brings softness and a soothing sensation to the throat, while echinacea is often used when we wish to offer the body additional herbal support
Mallow tincture + Plantain tincture
- both tinctures taken internally
- traditionally, mallow and plantain complement each other as gentle support for the mucous membranes; both herbs are associated with a sense of protection, softness and support for the throat and respiratory tract
Can children use Mallow tincture?
Mallow is considered a very gentle herb and has traditionally also been used for children, particularly in the form of herbal infusions or other alcohol-free preparations.
As the tincture contains alcohol, it is generally not the first choice for younger children.
