FAQ
Mistletoe tincture is a liquid herbal preparation made from the shoots of Viscum album using the traditional cold maceration method. This gentle process helps preserve a broad spectrum of naturally occurring compounds found in the green parts of the plant.
The alcohol concentration is carefully adjusted to suit the characteristics of the plant, allowing for a balanced extraction of different groups of compounds. The result is a comprehensive herbal extract that retains the characteristic natural profile of mistletoe.
We harvest our mistletoe in Slovenia from apple trees growing on our own herbal farm, where it grows in close connection with its host tree. Each harvest is carried out carefully by hand, with respect for the plant and its natural rhythms.

(European) Mistletoe (Viscum album)
European mistletoe is an evergreen, semi-parasitic plant that grows high in the canopies of trees. Its soft green shoots form distinctive spherical clusters that remain vibrant even in winter, when the rest of nature is at rest. During the colder months, it bears translucent white berries, giving it a delicate, almost magical appearance in the stillness of winter.
It belongs to the sandalwood family (Santalaceae).
In herbalism, we primarily use the leaves and young shoots (herba), traditionally harvested during the colder months, when the plant is believed to possess its most distinctive qualities.
European mistletoe has long been surrounded by rich symbolism. In Celtic tradition, it was regarded as a sacred plant, growing between heaven and earth – never touching the ground, yet deeply connected to its host tree. Harvesting mistletoe was a special ritual, often associated with protection, balance and connection. Even today, it remains a familiar symbol of peace and togetherness during the winter season.
European mistletoe has a long history of traditional use in herbal practices aimed at maintaining the body’s natural balance, particularly in relation to circulation. It has also been included in traditional herbal approaches during periods of tension or inner fluctuations, with the intention of supporting a calm and balanced bodily rhythm. It is traditionally valued for its association with general well-being and a sense of stability.
Today, European mistletoe is appreciated in traditional herbalism for its association with balance and tranquillity. Its presence reminds us that stability is often built slowly, through small but persistent processes that bring the body into harmony.

Mistletoe tincture + Hormone Balance tincture
- Both tinctures for internal use
- The blend of herbs in Hormone Balance complements the gentle character of European mistletoe. Together, they are traditionally used during periods when we wish to encourage a sense of stability and inner harmony.
Are European mistletoe berries poisonous?
Yes, European mistletoe berries are traditionally not used for consumption. In herbalism, we primarily use the leaves and young shoots, while the berries are excluded from preparations intended for internal use due to their chemical composition.
It is therefore important to use only properly prepared herbal products made from suitable parts of the plant. This helps ensure safety while respecting traditional herbal practices developed over many years.
What are the signs of improper use of European mistletoe, and how quickly can they appear?
The preparation method is particularly important when using European mistletoe. It has traditionally been prepared as a cold infusion to preserve a balanced profile of the plant’s natural constituents.
If prepared as a hot infusion or consumed in excessive amounts, unpleasant symptoms such as dizziness, nausea or general discomfort may occur.
Such reactions may appear relatively quickly, within a few hours of consumption.
For this reason, it is especially important to follow established preparation methods and use high-quality herbal products with clearly defined instructions for use.
