FAQ
Digestive Bitters Tincture is a herbal tincture made from centaury, dandelion root, artichoke leaves, coriander and green walnuts. It is prepared using the traditional cold maceration method, which helps preserve a broad spectrum of naturally occurring plant compounds – from pronounced bitter constituents to warm, aromatic herbal notes.
The alcohol content (40%) is carefully selected to support the balanced extraction of bitter compounds, aromatic constituents and other naturally occurring plant components. This combination creates a pleasantly bitter tincture with a rich herbal character, traditionally associated with digestion, a feeling of lightness after meals and digestive balance.
All plants used in this tincture are grown or harvested with great respect for nature and traditional herbal knowledge. Most of the herbs come from Slovenia or trusted Slovenian organic sources and are then carefully processed by hand into a tincture on our herbal farm.

Centaury (Centaurium erythraea)
Centaury is a delicate meadow herb from the Gentianaceae family. The herb (herba) is used in the tincture. It has long been considered one of the classic European bitter herbs. Traditionally, it is associated with digestion, bitter compounds and a sense of lightness after meals.
Dandelion (Taraxacum officinale)
Dandelion, from the Asteraceae family, is one of the best-known wild plants. The root (radix) is used in the tincture. Its slightly earthy and bitter character has traditionally been associated with healthy flow and digestive balance in herbalism. It is also often associated with spring and a sense of a fresh start.
Artichoke (Cynara scolymus)
Artichoke is a Mediterranean plant from the Asteraceae family. The leaf (folium) is used in the tincture. Its distinctive bitterness has long been valued in traditional digestive preparations. In the blend, it brings an elegant bitter note and beautifully connects the other herbs.
Coriander (Coriandrum sativum)
Coriander, from the Apiaceae family, is an aromatic plant. The seeds (semen) are used in the tincture. Its warm, slightly citrusy aroma softens the more pronounced bitter notes and gives the tincture a more rounded character. It has been used for centuries as part of traditional digestive blends.
Green walnuts (Juglans regia)
Unripe green walnuts, from the Juglandaceae family, have a distinctive astringent and deeply herbal character. The unripe fruits (fructus immaturus) are used in the tincture and have traditionally been valued in various bitter herbal preparations. They give the blend an old-world herbal character and rich aromatic depth.
Digestive bitters tincture + Parasite tincture
- both tinctures for internal use (they can be alternated or used according to individual preference)
- Digestive bitters tincture provides classic bitter herbs for digestion, while Parasite tincture has a more pronounced bitter and aromatic herbal character
- this combination is popular with people who prefer more intensive bitter herbal preparations
Digestive bitters tincture + Milk thistle seeds
- tincture for internal use, with milk thistle seeds after a meal or as preferred
- the bitter notes of the tincture beautifully complement the slightly nutty and earthy character of milk thistle seeds
- this combination is especially popular after heavier meals or during periods when supporting digestive balance and a sense of lightness is desired
Can bitters be helpful for reflux?
For some people, bitter herbs may help support the digestive rhythm and a sense of easier digestion, particularly when there is a feeling of heaviness, slow digestion or excessive fullness after a meal. This is why some people also choose bitters when experiencing reflux.
However, bitters are not suitable for everyone. For people with a sensitive stomach, gastritis or significant irritation, strong bitters may make symptoms worse. Individual responses can vary considerably.
We therefore recommend introducing bitters gradually, starting with a smaller amount and observing how your body responds. For a more sensitive stomach, we also offer a different, gentler tincture without pronounced bitter herbs.
