FAQ
Cleavers Tincture is a natural food supplement made from fresh cleavers herb (Galium aparine, herba) using the traditional cold maceration method. This process helps preserve a broad spectrum of naturally occurring plant compounds developed in the plant’s natural environment.
The alcohol content is carefully adjusted to ensure effective extraction of plant compounds while maintaining the stability and quality of the preparation. The resulting extract is concentrated, stable and suitable for everyday use.
Our cleavers are grown on our organic herbal farm in Slovenia, where we carefully observe the plants throughout their growth cycle. The herb is hand-harvested at the optimal time and gently processed to preserve its natural properties and quality.

Cleavers (Galium aparine)
Cleavers is an annual plant with delicate, clinging stems that easily climb and weave through surrounding vegetation. It is recognisable by the tiny hooks that allow it to cling to clothing, animal fur and skin, earning it the common name “stickyweed”.
It belongs to the bedstraw family (Rubiaceae), which also includes several other well-known medicinal plants.
In herbalism, we primarily use the above-ground parts of the plant (herba), harvested during its growth just before flowering, when it is fresh and full of vitality.
Interestingly, cleavers also has a history of everyday practical use. Its tiny hooks act like natural Velcro, while the herb was traditionally used as animal fodder and in spring cleansing drinks.
In traditional herbalism, cleavers is valued for its association with supporting the lymphatic system and the body’s natural elimination processes. It is often included in herbal routines during periods when gentle support for the body is desired.

Why Is Cleavers Often Associated with Skin Health?
In traditional herbalism, cleavers is often associated with skin health because of its historical use in herbal routines focused on the body’s natural cleansing processes and inner balance.
The skin is often seen as a reflection of our overall well-being. However, the effects of cleavers on skin health have not been conclusively established by scientific research.
When Is a Good Time to Include Cleavers in Your Daily Routine?
Cleavers is traditionally included in herbal routines during periods when gentle support and a sense of renewal are desired, such as during seasonal transitions or whenever you feel the need for greater lightness and balance.
What Is the Difference Between Lady’s Bedstraw and Cleavers?
Cleavers (Galium aparine) is a delicate green plant traditionally used in herbal preparations associated with the body’s natural cleansing processes and overall balance.
Lady’s bedstraw (Galium verum) is recognised by its small yellow flowers. In European herbal tradition, it is associated with digestive comfort, urinary function and skin care.
