FAQ

Arnica Tincture (Arnica montana) is a herbal preparation for external use, made from arnica flowers. It is prepared using the traditional cold maceration method, which helps preserve a broad spectrum of naturally occurring plant compounds.

We use a carefully selected alcohol concentration to ensure effective extraction of the plant’s natural constituents. This produces a high-quality extract containing a diverse range of plant compounds.

Our arnica flowers come from Slovenia, where they are harvested with great respect for nature. The plants are organically grown or harvested from clean natural habitats. Every step, from harvesting to processing, is carried out by hand.

Arnica (Arnica montana)

Arnica is a perennial plant with distinctive yellow-orange flowers that grows in mountain meadows and on sunny slopes. It is easily recognised by its vibrant flowers and slightly hairy leaves, resembling little suns scattered among the grasses.

It belongs to the daisy family (Asteraceae), which includes many other well-known medicinal plants.

For our tincture, we primarily use arnica flowers (flos), which contain a rich spectrum of naturally occurring plant compounds.

Arnica is traditionally used in body care when muscles and joints are under increased strain, such as after prolonged physical activity, work or other forms of exertion. This is why many people incorporate it into their skin care routines, particularly when seeking natural ways to care for the knee area after physical activity.

Why isn’t Arnica Tincture certified organic?

Arnica Tincture is intended for external use and is therefore classified as a cosmetic product. Different organic certification rules apply to cosmetics than to food and food supplements.

We use organically grown arnica flowers and organic fruit brandy in its production. Although the ingredients are of organic origin, the finished cosmetic product cannot be labelled as certified organic without appropriate certification for natural and organic cosmetics.

Is Arnica Tincture Suitable for Internal Use?

No. Arnica Tincture is intended exclusively for external use and must not be taken orally.

Is Arnica Suitable for Children?

Our Arnica Tincture is not recommended for children under 3 years of age. For older children, use with caution and apply only small amounts to limited areas of intact skin.

How Quickly Is Arnica Tincture Absorbed?

The alcohol in the tincture evaporates quickly, allowing it to dry rapidly on the skin. This makes it a convenient first step in body care after physical exertion.

Can I Use Arnica Tincture After Sports or Physical Work?

Yes, arnica is traditionally used as part of body care after physical exertion, when muscles and joints may benefit from additional attention and gentle care.

Is Arnica Suitable for Massage?

Arnica Tincture can be used as part of a massage routine, but its alcohol content makes it unsuitable for prolonged massage on its own. Apply a small amount to intact skin, allow it to dry, and follow with a suitable oil or salve for smoother, more comfortable massage.

What Is the Difference Between Arnica Oil and Arnica Tincture?

Arnica Tincture is an alcohol-based extract that dries quickly on the skin, making it a convenient first step in body care after physical exertion. Its concentrated nature means it should be used sparingly and diluted with water if you have sensitive skin.

Arnica Oil is an oil-based extract that remains on the skin, helps soften it and allows for gentle massage. Its main advantage is longer-lasting, nourishing skin care and a pleasant, comfortable feeling after application.
