FAQ
Nettle Tincture (Urtica dioica) is a concentrated herbal preparation made from nettle leaves using the traditional cold maceration method. This method helps preserve a broad spectrum of naturally occurring plant compounds in the tincture.
The alcohol content is carefully selected for nettle leaves, allowing effective extraction of different groups of plant compounds. The result is a balanced preparation that captures the plant in its natural complexity.
We grow nettle on our farm or gather it from clean, unspoilt natural habitats in Slovenia. The plants are organically grown or ethically wild-harvested, picked by hand and carefully processed in small batches.

Nettle (Urtica dioica)
Nettle is one of the most familiar herbs found in our local landscape. At first glance, it may seem wild and fiery, yet it carries a remarkable sense of vitality, greenness and earthy strength. It is a perennial plant that readily spreads through underground rhizomes, while its leaves and stems are covered with the characteristic stinging hairs that make it instantly recognisable.
It belongs to the Urticaceae family, a group of plants often found growing close to human settlements and long associated with everyday use in both food and traditional herbalism.
In herbal preparations such as tinctures, the nettle leaf (Urtica dioica, folium) is most commonly used. Traditional herbal use associates the leaf with a sense of freshness, flow and support for the body during different periods of life.
Nettle has a rich history of use. Its young spring shoots were valued as a seasonal food, while the plant was also once used as a source of fibre. In folk tradition, nettle was regarded as a plant of strength, resilience and inner cleansing, often associated with spring and new beginnings.
Traditionally, nettle is used during periods when a greater sense of lightness and freshness is desired. It is often associated with the body’s natural elimination processes, as a green herbal companion during seasonal transitions and as part of everyday herbal routines. In folk tradition, it also holds a special place in hair and scalp care.
In traditional herbalism, nettle is associated with supporting the body, a sense of vitality and natural balance. It is used in many different types of herbal preparations and is valued for its gentle, supportive and well-rounded character.

Nettle Tincture + Lymph Support Tincture
- both tinctures for internal use
- traditionally, nettle is valued for supporting natural elimination and overall vitality, while Lymphatic Support is used to encourage a sense of healthy flow and lightness in the body; together they offer gentle complementary support, especially during seasonal transitions
Nettle Tincture + Spruce Resin Balm
- tincture for internal use, balm for external use
- traditionally, nettle and Spruce Resin Balm complement each other as internal and external herbal support; nettle can be included as part of an everyday herbal routine, while the balm provides a warming and nourishing sensation when applied to the skin
Does Nettle Tincture contain the same compounds as nettle tea?
Not exactly. Nettle tincture and nettle tea differ mainly in the types of plant compounds that are extracted. Tea prepared with hot water primarily extracts water-soluble compounds, including minerals such as iron and silicon, along with other constituents that contribute to the nourishing character traditionally associated with nettle.
A tincture is an alcohol-based extract and captures a different spectrum of plant compounds, including flavonoids and certain phenolic compounds. The two preparations therefore offer different aspects of the same plant rather than being directly interchangeable.
